Review by spreaditround

spreaditround SET 1:

Paul and Silas: LOL at the alternate lyrics referencing the run in with the cops that would later be referenced in more detail in Makisupa.

Axilla: Standard. >

Theme From the Bottom: Really solid jam but would not feel the need to recommend it necessarily.

Sparkle: Very tentatively played. >

Horn: Trey is sloppy in the solo. >

Limb By Limb: Totally smoked, really impressive Trey action in here. Super cool little outro jam that is about 45 seconds that segues nicely into Catapult. Would surely recommend this verison. ->

Catapult: Fun as always and typically indicates the show will smoke. ->

Kung: Same sentiments from Catapult apply here. >

Maze: Perfect placement. Keep it dark and dirty.

All the Pain Through the Years: Raucous. Lots of wailing, fun stuff.

Layla: Fun and sloppy at points.

SET 2:

Roses Are Free: This was really going somewhere when ol Red rip cords the hell out of it and leaves Fish holding the bag – I bet he was unamused. >

Simple: Sloppy as they miss a verse or something that they end up just not coming back to. This goes Type II pretty quickly and very dissonant to start off with. Very cool. Hold on tight! In the early 14’s – this one is as out there as you can possibly get. Very evil. Very dark. Very, very intense. Tons of swirling and nasty effects. This would have been perfect for the Halloween show! Absolutely awesome version and I would highly recommend you check this one out as it’s an easy all timer!

Makisupa Policeman: Poor Paul, busted by the man. Good version here, nice and spacey with plenty of loops.

Possum -> Wipe Out -> Possum: Fun version.

Bathtub Gin: Gorgeous hose in full effect at the 9 minute mark! Huge peak two minutes later. The ambience that follows that is pretty special, love it. Fish and Mike are great. Starts ramping up again out of the ether in the late 15’s. Another all timer.

You Enjoy Myself: Very funky.

ENCORE:

Roggae: Only time this has ever owned the encore slot. Standard version. Interesting way to close the tour.

Hello My Baby: Standard.

Summary: Solid first set anchored by the LxL. Fun guest spot. Second set is where it’s at with two all timers and then plenty of good stuff to bookend it. The highs are very high in this show – Simple is incredible and Gin s exceptional too. I agree with the current rating of 4.47/5 (132 ratings)

Replay Value: Limb By Limb, Simple, Bathtub Gin
